On December 20, in Minsk, the final in 2017 meeting of the Contact Group on peaceful settlement of the Donbass conflict was held. As a source at the peace talks reports from Minsk, the key issue at the meeting of the Contact Group in the past year was the issue of providing security on the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays.
“Taking into account the growing dynamics of shelling, and only yesterday, according to the data of the OSCE SMM, the number of violations amounted to about 6,500, and understanding the need to organize an ongoing “silence regime”, the Donetsk People’s Republic confirmed its adherence to the ceasefire from 00:00 on 23.12.17 (Kiev time).
At the same time, representatives of the Republic stressed the need to issue appropriate orders, including disciplinary measures against violators,” the source said.
In addition, according to the source, the plenipotentiary representative of the Donetsk People’s Republic for the talks of the Contact Group in Minsk Denis Pushilin confirmed the readiness for the exchange of prisoners before the New Year and Christmas holidays.
