Elena Shishkina: Ukrainian representatives in Minsk do not sign Steinmeier formula, as they want to change interpretation of Minsk agreements

Deputy of the DPR’s People’s Council Elena Shishkina commented on a statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadim Pristaiko about the need to change the Steinmeier formula, which he made in an interview to “Evropeiskaya Pravda”, to the Donetsk News Agency.

The deputy noted that, according to the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Kiev could not sign the text of the Steinmeier formula on September 18 due to “technical misunderstanding within the trilateral contact group”. Comments were received from Ukraine’s representative Leonid Kuchma. Kiev wants to change the text of the formula, despite it being accommodated by advisers of the heads of the Normandy Four earlier.

ʺMister Pristaiko only confirmed that Kiev’s politicians were still incapable of making any decisions: they say one thing and then they say another after a while. In reality, Ukrainian representatives in Minsk do not sign the Steinmeier formula, because they persevere in their attempts to change the interpretation of the Minsk agreements and dictate their terms,ʺ Elena Shishkina said.

The deputy added that the Ukrainian representatives once again were sabotaging the Minsk negotiations, despite their statements regarding a swift restoration of peace in Donbass.

ʺIt was President Vladimir Zelensky’s initiative to discuss the war in Donbass in Normandy format. It turns out that Kuchma not only does not listen to his leadership, but also sabotages its instructions. Here the question arises regarding the powers of a political adviser Andrey Yermak and his role in Ukrainian politics,ʺ the deputy summed up.
