On August 22, a ceremonial event dedicated to State Flag Day of the Russian Federation took place in the capital's Pervomaisky Garden Square.

On August 22, a delegation of the People’s Council arrived in Sukhumi to participate in international monitoring of preparation and holding of the presidential elections in the Republic of Abkhazia. The delegation included Deputies Vladislav Berdichevsky, Alexander Bykadorov, Konstantin Kuzmin, Vasily Pertsev, Natalia Pshenichnaya and Alexander Seryozhenko.
