International observers from DPR arrive in Abkhazia to attend second round of elections
On September 6, Deputies of the People’s Council Alexander Bykadorov, Alexander Seryozhenko and Natalia Pshenichnaya had a meeting with the chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Abkhazia. The visit takes place within the framework of the participation of the Donetsk People’s Republic’s delegation in international monitoring of the preparation and holding of the second round of elections for the President of the Republic of Abkhazia.
Natalia Pshenichnaya described to the press service of the People’s Council how the preparations for the elections, which were scheduled for September 8, were going.
ʺA re-vote was scheduled in accordance with the Constitution of Abkhazia, as none of the candidates had gotten the necessary number of votes to win in the first round. The people of the Republic will now choose between the incumbent President Raul Khajimba and the leader of local opposition Alkhas Kvitsinia.
It should be noted that there will be about 1500 electoral districts in the territory of Abkhazia. I hope that the elections will be held in a lawful manner and without violations,ʺ the deputy said.
During the visit to the Republic, parliamentarians visited Evgeniy Gadlia’s grave, one of the defenders of the Donetsk People’s Republic, who died together with Arseniy Pavlov in the result of terrorist attack.
According to Alexander Bykadorov, the parliamentarians laid flowers on his grave and replaced the flag of the Donetsk People’s Republic, which was set nearby.
ʺEvgeniy was a native of Abkhazia, but when the war began there, his family moved to Donetsk. In 2014, he joined the people’s militia, he fought for Slavyansk and was seriously wounded in Ilovaisk.
We will always remember the feat of a soldier who sacrificed his life for peace in Donbass,ʺ the deputy said.
