Marina Zheinova: Initiative to wall off Donbass to only lead to plundering of Ukraine’s budget
The proposal of the Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Servant of the People party Alexander Dubinsky to build a wall on the border of Ukraine and the Donbass was commented in an interview with the Donetsk News Agency by the Chairman of the People’s Council Committee on Budget, Finance and Economic Policy, Marina Zheinova.
“In continuation of the loud populist statements of Zelensky’s team members, the Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Servant of the People party, journalist Alexander Dubinsky shared his vision of the economy of Ukraine and the future of the Donbass. Apparently, Yatsenyuk’s credits, who at his own time announced the construction of a wall on the border with the Russian Federation, are haunting him. As we recall, this adventure ended with plundering hundreds of millions of hryvnias from Ukraine’s budget. It seems that such a financial scheme impressed the newly-minted parliamentarian so much that he became really impatient to start its implementation,” the deputy noted.
The parliamentarian stressed that Alexander Dubinsky himself was one of the active supporters of lifting the moratorium on the land sale, which is one of the last investment resources of Ukraine.
“A particular oomph to this deputy’s statements is provided by the fact that he aspires to key positions in the Rada committees responsible for the financial and banking sector. If the other members of Zelensky’s team are set up in a similar way, then, according to the results of their activities, there will be nothing else to sell in Ukraine,” Marina Zheinova added.
Also, the People’s Council deputy commented on Dubinsky’s initiative to hold a referendum, in which the future fate of the Donbass would be decided.
“I would like to note that the people of Donbass already held a referendum on May 11, 2014, in which they unequivocally spoke out for state independence and integration with the Russian Federation. In 2014, we made a choice that will allow the DPR and LPR to develop the economy, while the “servants of the people” will sell off the remnants of Ukraine,” the parliamentarian concluded.
