Marina Zheinova: There is no point in expecting any changes in Ukraine’s policy towards Donbass after elections to Verkhovna Rada
The rearrangement of political forces in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine after the elections was commented in an interview with the Donetsk News Agency by DPR People’s Council deputy Marina Zheinova.
“Any changes after such a radical rearrangement of political forces in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should not be expected. Zelensky and his team directly fulfil the will of the United States. Even the notorious Ukrainian oligarch Kolomoisky, who played a significant role in Vladimir Zelensky’s election campaign, was barred from contacts with the president at the request of American curators,” the parliamentarian stated.
Marina Zheinova added that Zelensky and his party would use any tricks to avoid the implementation of the Minsk Package of Measures.
She also shared the estimates of possible decisions of the Verkhovna Rada in the economic sphere.
“We should expect spectacular actions and populist decisions from the new team. For the Ukrainian people, this can end very badly, since, having such support in the Verkhovna Rada, Zelensky can, in the interests of his supervisors, go for large-scale privatization and lift the moratorium on land sales. This will allow for a short time to balance the budget and make payments to cover IMF loans, as well as help Western partners get tidbits of the Ukrainian public sector assets. However, it is impossible to completely solve Ukraine’s economic problems with such methods. Moreover, when the money received from privatization and the sale of land runs out, Ukraine will be on the verge of an economic catastrophe,” she said.
