Miroslav Rudenko: President of Ukraine has completed process of total ukrainization of society

The law on ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language, which was signed by Petro Poroshenko, completes the process of total ukrainization of all spheres of public life in Ukraine. The Deputy of the People’s Council Miroslav Rudenko stated about this in an interview to the Donetsk News Agency.

The deputy noted that the law included especially stringent actions against the Russian language.

ʺNow the Ukrainian language becomes compulsory in pre-school, school, out-of-school education facilities and higher educational institutions, In this case, a concurrent training in the language of national minorities is allowed in kindergartens and junior schools. There is no such provision for higher education institutions. Cultural and mass events will be held only in the Ukrainian language and public events, such as round tables, conferences and symposiums, can use only the Ukrainian and English languages. Movies are shot only in the Ukrainian language and it becomes the primary language for book printing, publishing companies and the mass media,ʺ Miroslav Rudenko.

The deputy added that the execution of the law was obligatory for all citizens, except for the Ukrainian deputies themselves.

ʺA quota for nationwide channels was increased from 75% to 90% due to the violation of the agreements reached during the discussion of the law in the second reading. It is stated that this norm will work in five years. Failure to comply with the law will be punished by serious fines. More importantly, the wording on compulsory knowledge of the Ukrainian language for deputies of the Verkhovna Rada disappeared from the text of the law at the last moment. This is not surprising, as the laws in Ukraine are adopted for the people, and not for the representatives of the government,ʺ the deputy summed up.
