#Official Commentary of Ekaterina Martyanova on stable increase of crime level in Ukraine
The General Prosecutor of Ukraine Yuri Lutsenko announced information at the meeting of the Committee on legislative support of law enforcement that 410,000 crimes were registered in Ukraine during seven month of 2016. This is an official number, but, in fact, there are a great number of victims that did not appeal to the police because of the death threats and that is why the real number of crimes is unknown. There are also undetected crimes related to a lack of professionalism in the reformed structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and a total corruption in its entire system.
Law enforcement officers do not often have time to register new statements. So, the information voiced by Yuri Lutsenko does not correspond to reality. But if it is needed to show a progress to the Ukrainian people, then there is a steady growth.
The impunity and permissiveness are thriving in Ukraine at the moment. The Ukrainian authority is trying to justify the reasons of the catastrophic crime situation in the country by the influx of weapon from the ‘ATO’ zone that contributes to the commission of serious crimes
We constantly hear about takeovers of private properties, plants and kidnapping for ransom. Moreover, home burglaries, robberies and car thefts have become a mass phenomenon so that central Ukrainian TV channels showed a series of programmes, teaching elementary safety measures.
What can we say about the leadership of such organizations as the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service of Ukraine and the General Prosecutor Office of Ukraine? Almost every Ukrainian citizen knows about the corrupt practices of Mr.Avakov. The State Security Service of Ukraine creates ‘secret prisons’ where it tortures people. Puppet media described colorfully corruptive schemes of Yuri Lutsenko a couple of years ago. And so-called heroes of ‘Maidan’ and ‘ATO’, who committed many crimes before the coup in Ukraine, are introduced as a part of management personnel.
What example does the Ukrainian government give to people, if instead of controlling over the laws’ execution it violates them? The rise in crime is a serious reason to start thinking over the future of the country. Currently, the Ukraine’s security stands at the level of Sudan, Somalia and Afghanistan. Whatever the Ukrainian media writes, whatever the Ukrainian officials say, Ukraine is associated primarily with crime and corruption at the moment.
