#Official Commentary of Ekaterina Martyanova on World Consumer Rights Day
Consumer rights protection activity is necessary in building of any state. The DPR’s Law “On consumer protection”, which was adopted by the People’s Council on June 5, 2015, stipulates the regulation of relations between consumers and producers and the rights of consumers to acquire goods of good quality, safe for life and health.
Each consumer has the right to receive information about goods and their producers, and for state and public protection of interests. In addition, citizens can take an initiative in the struggle to defend their rights.
A social project “People’s Control” has been in operation for more than a year in the DPR and its activists have volunteered to defend the legitimate rights of consumers in various spheres of activity.
Despite the Ukraine’s economic blockade, we continue to strive for a high quality of goods and services, and there is an active effort to combat unscrupulous sellers and producers, which greatly enhances the safety and quality of life of our citizens.
The World Consumer Rights Day was enshrined in the international holiday calendar on March 15, 1983, and has been held annually since then. The Donetsk People’s Republic advocates respect for such basic consumer principles as the right to information, the right to security, the right to choose and the right to be heard.
