#Official Commentary of Marina Zheynova on Poroshenko’s fishing trip in Finland

So, a Ukrainian budget for 2017 has been prepared and it is time to execute it. The State Property Fund of Ukraine announced a privatization of strategic enterprises again. A list is significant, as usual.

The list includes Odessa Portside Plant, “Sumykhimprom”, “Centrenergo”, “Turboatom”, “Khmelnitskoblenergo”, “Nikolaevoblenergo”, “Kharkivoblenergo”, “Ternopiloblenergo”, “Zaporizhiaoblenergo”, “Cherkassyoblenergo”, “Sumyoblenergo”, “Odessaoblenergo”, ” DTEK Donetskoblenerho” ,”Kyivenergo”, “DTEK Dneprooblenergo”, “DTEK Zakhidenergo”, “DTEK Dniproenergo” and “Donbassenergo”. In addition, Ivano-Frankivsk Locomotive Repair Plant, Zaporozhye aluminum plant, Ternopil Radio Plant “ORION”, “Dneprometrobud”, Haivoron locomotive rebuilder, Dnipro machine factory, etc.

Agony prods Ukrainian politicians into rash actions, because their power is at an end. That’s why they are trying to “privatize” first and then to buy state assets for a song, guided by the fact that “everything has already been stolen before us” in Ukraine. All that remains is to negotiate and divide spheres of influence. The State Property Fund of Ukraine has prepared a new draft law on privatization with a view of optimizing and unifying privatization procedures. For instance, it offers confine itself to large and small-scale privatization through auction and simplification of procedures.

According to the American media, the US President-elect Donald Trump spoke of reasonability to carry out an audit of the Ukrainian authority to examine in what the official Kiev invested funds, which it had received from the United States during the Barack Obama’s presidency.

At the same time, Poroshenko, understanding the whole situation, is trying to find support because the new White House administration treats Obama’s protégés in a different way and it is certainly going to take steps not in favour of the current Ukrainian leadership. Therefore, Poroshenko began to invite EU countries to participate in privatization. In particular, during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Finland Juha Sipilä, he invited Finnish companies to participate in privatization in Ukraine.

Of course, it is another show because tidbits have been already divided. Even if foreign investors decide to participate, then everything will be in the face of the media in style of reprivatization of “Kryvorizhstal”. Every deal has a stink of Ukrainian pseudo-rulers all over it. And investors are fed up with their whining “write off our debts, we protect the whole world”. But Poroshenko will continue to throw bait, in case someone jumps at it…
