Oleg Onopko: Amending Ukrainian legislation regarding Donbass without DPR and LPR’s approval violates Minsk agreements
In his commentary, DPR People’s Council deputy Oleg Onopko emphasized that the implementation of the political part of the Minsk agreements is the cornerstone of the peaceful settlement in Donbass.
“Creating the appearance of intensive work on the Minsk agreements on the eve of the meetings of the Normandy Four, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine announces the upcoming herculean task of the elected representatives in the Verkhovna Rada on amending the law on the special status of our territories.
At the same time, he forgets that all changes to the laws, all new laws, all actions regarding Donbass must be coordinated with the representatives of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. Non-compliance of amendments to the legislation of Ukraine is a direct violation of the documents signed in Minsk.
Besides, I will remind you that this law did not work for a day, and to make changes to what does not work is like trying to glue a broken vase with water. Such statements on part of Ukraine are already openly jeopardizing the entire Minsk process.
We hope that the international community will pay attention to the statements of Kiev politicians and remind them that in order to make any political decisions regarding Donbass, a Minsk platform has been created, on which it is necessary to coordinate everything with representatives of the Republics,” Oleg Onopko noted.
