Parliamentarians establish additional social guarantees for separate category of health workers in specialized tuberculosis treatment facilities

On April 24, according to an agenda of a plenary session, parliamentarians reviewed a draft law “On amendments to Article 24 of the Law of the Donetsk People’s Republic ʺOn prevention of the spread of tuberculosis in the Donetsk People’s Republicʺdeveloped by Deputy of the People’s Council Vladimir Bidyovka.

The promoter of the draft law described the gist of proposed changes.

ʺThis draft law envisages securing social guarantees for persons working as assistant nurses in specialized TB hospitals and subdivisions in the form of an additional bonus for the length of continuous service, depending on its duration. It should be noted that, to date, more than 300 persons are employed in specialized medical institutions of the Donetsk People’s Republic, who are covered by the draft law. These are medical workers, such as assistant nurses, who provide assistance to TB patients, care for them or clean the premises where such patients are located, work with causative agents of tuberculosis or materials containing them. Therefore, they belong to a group with higher risk of tuberculosis,ʺ Vladimir Bidyovka said.

The parliamentarian added that conditions and amounts of allowances for medical workers of specialized anti-tuberculosis facilities are defined by the Decree of the Head of the DPR “On establishment of conditions and allowances for medical workers of specialized anti-tuberculosis institutions and specialized structural subdivisions of health care institutions that carry out diagnostics of tuberculosis and provide treatment and preventive care to patients with tuberculosis”.

Taking into account the importance and urgency of the proposed amendments, the parliamentarians voted for the enactment of the draft law after two readings. The Law of the DPR “On amendments to Article 23 of the Law of the Donetsk People’s Republic ʺOn prevention of the spread of tuberculosis in the Donetsk People’s Republicʺ will be sent to the Head of the DPR for his signature and will come into force after being published on the official website of the People’s Council.
