Parliamentarians participate in festivities on occasion of fifth anniversary of Donetsk People’s Republic’s proclamation
On April 7, in the centre of the capital, a solemn rally was held in the square near the Government House, timed to coincide with the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the Donetsk People’s Republic]s proclamation. The event was attended by DPR Head Denis Pushilin, People’s Council Chairman Vladimir Bidyovka, People’s Council deputies, activists of public movements and organizations, as well as more than 10,000 residents of the Republic.
The Head of Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, addressed the crowd. He stressed that after five years, the Donetsk People’s Republic continued to move towards the goals proclaimed in 2014.
“Dear friends! Dear comrades! It has been five years since the Donetsk People’s Republic was proclaimed. It is difficult to even conceive how many events our state has gone through. And today we gathered to remember how, on one of such days, we came to the rally. We realized that we could not do otherwise. We came to this building. And each of our like-minded people, entering this building, understood that there was no going back.
The Donetsk People’s Republic exists, we exist, too! We continue to follow the goals that we proclaimed! We need Big Russia, we need to return to our Homeland. Very often at rallies it sounded: “Crimea! Donbass! Russia!”,“ Referendum!”… Our way is longer, but we will work everything out with you! Dear friends, happy holiday!” Denis Pushilin congratulated the gathered.
The head of the Donetsk Republic faction, the deputy of the People’s Council, Valery Skorokhodov and the deputy of the People’s Council, Claudia Kulbatskaya, also spoke at the rally.
In her address to the rally participants, Claudia Kulbatskaya expressed confidence that the Donetsk People’s Republic would be a developed and prosperous country.
“Now we can say that the Republic was really accomplished. Yes, we still have a lot of unsolved problems, but we can resolve with them if we tackle them together. We are building an equal opportunity society in a powerful alliance with the Russian Federation and other fraternal countries. We want our children to see the peaceful skies over the Donbass. We will pass on to them our blooming land, the land of free, strong and hardworking people!
On this bright and memorable day, I want to remember those who perished defending the young Donetsk People’s Republic. We mourn all our fallen. We cherish the memory of them,” the parliamentarian said.
Valery Skorokhodov, in an interview with the press service of the People’s Council, noted that the residents of the DPR managed to build a completely new state – free and fair.
“Five years ago, we took a bold and desperate step and rebelled against the illegal government that came to power in Kiev. I reckon that we managed to defend the right to our history, native language and culture. We are building a state that our children and grandchildren will be proud of, we are doing everything to ensure that citizens of the Republic live with dignity. Ahead of us are new victories and achievements,” the deputy concluded.
