People’s Council holds meeting on occasion of third anniversary of Odessa tragedy
On May 2, an enlarged meeting of the People’s Council Committee on Foreign Policy, International Relations, Information Policy and Information Technology was held to commemorate the third anniversary of the Odessa tragedy. “Anti-Maidan” activists from Odessa were invited to the event.
The Vice-Chairman of the Committee Vladislav Berdichevsky announced before the meeting that the one would be briefed by the representatives of the Odessa resistance movement.
ʺToday’s agenda includes the reports of the direct participants in the events of May 2, which took place in Odessa in 2014, on criminal investigation, political prosecution of activists of “Kulikovo field” and “Anti-Maidan”.
We are aware that several investigation teams have been replaced so far. The investigators interview witnesses again, conduct expert examinations and no significant progress has yet been achieved.
It is worth adding that the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission, which worked on this case from November 2016 to February 2017, stated in its report that the perpetrators of the events of May 2 were never brought to justice. The latest resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe also states that Ukraine does not conduct any investigations,ʺ Vladislav Berdichevsky said.
The member of the Odessa resistance Mikhail Dolgov expressed gratitude for the opportunity to talk about the event that took place on May 2 in Odessa.
ʺThe Ukrainian authorities recognized 48 dead, 32 of whom died in Trade Unions House, 10 – outside the building from the injuries sustained and six – at the Gretska Square from gunshot wounds. Among them were seven women and a male juvenile,ʺ Mikhail Dolgov said.
According to the deputy Alexander Kostenko, the residents of Odessa are actively involved in the protection and construction of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
ʺMany people observe events in Donbass, including on television, due to the expansion of the broadcasting of our TV channels both to the territory of the entire Donetsk People’s Republic and to the territory of Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov and other regions.
Also, many residents of Odessa have come here and work for our common victory. We are always ready to support and assist you as often as possible,ʺ Alexander Kostenko addressed to the residents of Odessa.
