People’s Council sums up ‘Children of Republic’ social programme’s interim results
On December 24, in the capital’s Zvyozdochka cinema, a solemn annual summing up of the Children of the Republic social programme was initiated by the Deputy Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, Olga Makeyeva. DPR People’s Council Chairman Vladimir Bidyovka, People’s Council Deputy Chairman Olga Makeyeva, deputies, representatives of relevant ministries and departments attended the event.
In a comment to the press service of the People’s Council, Vladimir Bidyovka thanked the involved residents of the Republic for their active participation in the charity programme.
“First of all, I would like to note the significance of the programme implemented by the People’s Council. Now that the children in our country still know what shell sounds are and remember the horrors of war, it is important to help them enjoy their childhood.
Each of us is empowered to give a child some joy, and I am happy that the programme brought together so many people – those who help and those who are helped. There is no doubt that not only does the programme need to be continued, but its expansion also has to be facilitated.
I thank each and every one of you for your caring attitude, for gifting a particle of your heart to thousands of little citizens of our country. And I know perfectly well that together we will deal with any adversity!” the Speaker of Parliament said.
Speaking to the gathered, Olga Makeyeva reported on the work done over an annual period.
“Today, in the Donetsk’ Zvyozdochka cinema, we have gathered to sum up the results of the Children of the Republic social programme, which was established back in 2015. Back then my colleagues and I realized that it was necessary to save the souls of our children, because the war was robbing them of their childhood. We have combined the efforts of all concerned adults in order to give joy and vivid emotions to little residents of the Republic during this difficult time.
In 2019, some 150 events were held as part of the Children of the Republic social programme, which were attended by over 5,000 children.
This year, the geography of our events has expanded significantly. This is due to the fact that deputies of the People’s Council of the second convocation were very actively involved in this work. They facilitate transportation of children to the capital of the Republic from all corners of our state,” the Deputy Speaker noted.
