Relevant committee addresses issues concerning legislative regulation of medicine disposal

The Committee of the People’s Council on Health, Maternity and Child Protection is studying proposals of relevant ministries and departments to amend the law of the Donetsk People’s Republic “On the turnover of medicines” in terms of grounds and disposal of medicines.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Committee Alexander Avdeyev in a commentary to the press service of the People’s Council.

ʺWith accordance with the existing law, low quality, falsified and counterfeit medicines are to be withdrawn from circulation and disposed according to the procedures established by the Government of the Donetsk People’s Republic. In this case, a ground for medicine disposal is a decision of the one, who has ownership of a medicine, decision of an authorized body or a court.

The Committee has studied proposals to amend this norm to specify the provisions for the disposal of counterfeit medicines. In accordance with them, these medicines will be subject to withdrawal from circulation and disposal only by court order. The order of their disposal will be regulated by the Government of the Donetsk People’s Republic. In addition, the provisions of the Act, under which the disposal of medicines will be carried out by licensed organizations, have been worked out in detail. The practicability of amending this norm of law will also be considered at the Committee’s meetings,ʺ the deputy said.
