Roman Malyutin: Spending millions on construction of checkpoints demonstrates Kiev’s preparations to siege DPR for decades

Multi-million sums, which Kiev allocates to improve checkpoints in the areas of military operation, indicate that the Ukrainian authorities are planning to freeze the conflict in Donbass for decades. The DPR People’s Council deputy Roman Malyutin shared his opinion with the Donetsk News Agency.

ʺThe intention to build fundamental construction at a checkpoint between Ukraine and the DPR means that the official Kiev counts on the longevity of the conflict. Actions speak louder than words in this case: it turns out that the numerous statements of the Ukrainian politicians and military officers on the forthcoming “reintegration” of Donbass are a fiction. In fact, Kiev is preparing to siege the DPR for decades,ʺ an Agency’s interlocutor said.

However, Roman Malyutin did not exclude the possibility that the Ukrainian officials just decided to earn by using usual corruption schemes. Essentially, the funds allocated to the construction of the checkpoints can be embezzled and plans will remain on paper.

It was earlier reported that the Ukrainian authorities had allocated 10 million hryvnias to construct a checkpoint “Marinka”. It was noted that it was planned to build comfortable waiting areas for pedestrians, places for car inspections, furnished places with air conditioners, to install sanitary conveniences with cold and hot water. It is planned to carry out large-scale work at all four checkpoints before the end of the year.
