Topical issues of employment of graduates of higher and secondary vocational educational institutions considered in Republic’s capital

On December 11, the XII International Scientific and Practical Conference entitled “The topical problems and prospects of the employment of graduates of higher and secondary vocational educational institutions” was held in the Donetsk National University of Economics and Trade named after Mikhail Tugan-Baranovsky.

The Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin, Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Vladimir Bidyovka, Deputy Chairman of the DPR Government Vladimir Antonov, Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Artyom Kramarenko participated in the event.

The Head of the State emphasized that the DPR Government had already been tasked with developing a road map to form a public contract taking into account the needs of the Republics’ enterprises.

The most important task of state policy is to create conditions for the development of intellectual and labour capacity of the Donetsk People’s Republic. The state standards of higher vocational education, which were developed in 2015, contribute to the high level of theoretical training of students. We need to understand clearly the need for personnel in different fields of education and how much this need corresponds to the capacity of the Republican universities to prepare specialists.

To solve this problem, the Ministry of Economic Development of the DPR together with the Institute of Economic Research should develop a development strategy for the Republic on the basis of development programmes for industry, economy and social sector. The Ministry of Education and Science of the DPR together with the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of the DPR have to analyse the possibility of retraining of unneeded specialists on the labour market, formulate proposals and present them to the DPR Government.

And the Government has to initiate amendments in such laws of the Donetsk People’s Republic as “On education” and “On employment” in order to ensure that the needs of the Republic in qualified personnel are met. We should not just educate a student, but also provide one with a decent job,ʺ Denis Pushilin underlined

The Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, in turn, noted that the authorities of the Republic continued to provide full support to graduates in matters of employment.

ʺThe issue of employment of graduates of educational institutions has always been and will be topical. Today, we have to make every effort that a young graduate, who graduated from a higher educational institution and who has no work experience, ends up unemployed. We live in a young developing state where doors for graduates have to be open,ʺ Vladimir Bidyovka said.

The participants discussed the challenges of the DPR labour market, scientific and practical issues related to the organization of students’ work experience internship, employment of graduates and monitoring of their career progress.
