Vladimir Bidyovka comments on change of key personnel in territory of Donbass controlled by Ukraine

Pressure on the Donbass residents by the Ukrainian special services with the appointment of a former employee of the Security Service for the post of head of the Donetsk Civil and Military Administration will only intensify. This was stated to RIA Novosti by chairman of the Donetsk People’s Republic’s People’s Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Construction Vladimir Bidyovka.

President of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko on Friday introduced the new head of the Donetsk Civil and Military Administration, it was Major-General of the Security Service Alexander Koots.

“The change of the head of the so-called Donetsk Regional Civil and Military Administration Pavel Zhebrivsky to Alexander Koots does not bode well for all residents of the Donbass,” Vladimir Bidyovka said.

In his opinion, the decision to appoint a former SBU employee as governor of the Donetsk region was made for a reason, and it is connected with the control of financial flows from smuggling. The parliamentarian recalled that Koots was in the SBU as Deputy Chief of the Main Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime, suggesting that the Ukrainian authorities, with his appointment, decided to “increase their earnings from the war with the help of a protégée from the special services.”

“People whose families were divided by the front line will suffer the most from this,” Vladimir Bidyovka noted.

He believes that “pressure on local residents will intensify on the part of the SBU, as Koots’ colleagues will want to curry favour, thereby earning a place beefier and closer to the leadership.”
