Vladimir Bidyovka: Direct dialogue between Zelensky and Donbass representatives would bring remarkable acceleration in peace process
A direct dialogue between Donbass representatives and the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky would accelerate the settlement of the conflict in the region. This was stated by the Chairman of the DPR’s People’s Council Vladimir Bidyovka in an interview to RIA Novosti.
ʺToday, we hear a lot of talk coming from the Ukrainian power about the need for peace and conflict resolution, but, at the same time, it turns out to be either empty words or they put a completely different meaning to it… As of today, Ukraine does not fully implement the Minsk agreements. So far, they (Kiev authorities – Ed.) are not ready for a direct dialogue with representatives of the Donetsk People’s Republic, although I think it would be logical if the conflicting parties conducted a direct dialogue. This would incredibly speed up the settlement of the peace process,” Vladimir Bidyovka said, responding to a question about the possibility of a meeting between the President of Ukraine and representatives of the People’s Republics.
According to him, no political forces that would truly want peace in Donbass have yet come to power in Ukraine, which can be achieved with a direct dialogue.
ʺIt will be hard to talk about peace until Ukraine has the political will to solve everything peacefully, until France and Germany really put pressure on Ukraine in this matter, de facto fulfil their obligations as participants of the Normandy Format,ʺ Vladimir Bidyovka said.
