Vladimir Bidyovka: DPR’s state border to run along borders of Donetsk Oblast as of 2014
On November 29, the People’s Council adopted the DPR Law “On the State Border of the Donetsk People’s Republic.” The Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, Vladimir Bidyovka, provided his commentary on the main provisions of the Law to the press.
“The DPR Law “On the State Border of the Donetsk People’s Republic” defines the procedure for the protection and defence of our state border.
We have not forgotten the people who live in the territory temporarily controlled by Ukraine. We remember that in May 2014, they voted alongside us in the referendum. Therefore, the state border of the DPR is defined by the Law as the territory of the Donetsk Oblast as of 2014.
This bill also envisages that until the dispute between the state of Ukraine and the DPR has been resolved, the border will run along the contact line. This is consistent with the Decree of the DPR Head, Alexander Zakharchenko, dated 02.27.2017 “On the Line of Contact”.
I would like to emphasize that this law does not contradict the Minsk agreements,” the Speaker of Parliament said.
