Vladimir Bidyovka: Primary goal of martial law in Ukraine – Poroshenko’s desire to disrupt presidential elections

The situation with the imposition of martial law in Ukraine headed along a different trajectory, the scenario of which was designed in the highest echelons of the Kiev regime, and which indicates confusion with the duration of martial law. On November 27, the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Vladimir Bidyovka shared his opinion with the Donetsk News Agency.

Today, the Ukrainian government newspaper “Uryadovy Courier” published a decree, signed by Petro Poroshenko, on the imposition of martial law for 60 days from November 26. However, the Verkhovna Rada voted for the imposition of martial law for a period of up to 30 days from November 28 just before.

ʺThis mistake happened because the central government of Ukraine did not expect that the situation would head along a different trajectory. The primary goal of martial law, which in itself is absurd, is the disruption of the elections,ʺ the Speaker of the DPR Parliament said.

Vladimir Bidyovka added that the mistake made in the decree’s publication “confirms the inconsistency of the government and its accomplices”, which, according to him, demonstrates the full degradation of the regime of Poroshenko.

Earlier today, the Verkhovna Rada stated that the law would be published on November 28 in the newspaper “Holos Ukrayiny”. The announcement of refutation will be published and disciplinary proceedings against those who are responsible for erroneous publication will be initiated.

It should be reminded that, according to the Verkhovna Rada’s decision, a special legal regime – martial law – will come into effect at 9 o’clock on November 28. It is imposed in ten regions of the country including those that share borders with the Russian Federation and the part of Donbass, which is under control of the Kiev government. Poroshenko has made a corresponding decision to the Parliament upon the recommendation of the National Security and Defense Council and initially it was 60 days.

Martial law is a special legal regime, which is introduced in Ukraine or its individual territories by the act of Ukraine “On the legal regime of martial law”. It consists of the provision of almost unlimited powers to the state authorities, military command, military administrations.
