Vladislav Berdichevsky: Andrey Yermak’s statement once again demonstrates Kiev’s inability to negotiate
Deputy of the DPR’s People’s Council Vladislav Berdichevsky commented on Andrey Yermak’s statement, an adviser of the Ukrainian president, that a special status of the DPR and the LPR was not negotiable either in the Normandy format or in Minsk.
ʺUkrainian politicians’ statements that Kiev is not going and not even planning to implement the Minsk agreements trigger no emotions at all. In this regard, we once again note Ukraine’s blatant inability to negotiate in Yermak’s statements,ʺ the deputy noted.
The deputy reminded that the Steinmeier formula, which was a mechanism for entry into force of the special status of Donbass, was discussed at the last meeting in Minsk. The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadim Pristaiko stated in this regard that the Head of Kiev’s delegation in Minsk Leonid Kuchma had had issues with the Steinmeier formula and intentions to amend its text.
Vladislav Berdichevsky underlined that the Steinmeier formula had been agreed upon and there could be no changes in it.
ʺThe Steinmeier formula is a compromise solution, a mechanism for entry into force of the agreed special status, which was not in the Minsk agreements. There will be no more political compromises,ʺ the deputy stated.
The deputy stated that Ukrainian politicians’ actions and statements contradicted each other. As a result, the signing of the Steinmeier formula was thwarted.
ʺZelensky’s adviser Andrey Yermak agreed on the formula at a meeting of advisers of the heads of states, which are the members of the Normandy Four, while Kuchma had “technical issues”. Either Yermak is not a good adviser or Kuchma listens to his own “bosses”.
It is high time to stop behaving like clowns and explain to their people that buffoonery in politics in general and in this situation in particular will lead to the fact that the fatigue from their sideshows will reach the point of no return,ʺ Vladislav Berdichevsky noted.
