Vladislav Berdichevsky: Pristayko’s statement on possible deployment of peacekeepers is provocation

Deputy of the DPR People’s Council Vladislav Berdichevsky commented for RIA Novosti Vadim Pristayko’s statement that one of Kiev’s steps to resolve the conflict in Donbass would be to deploy a UN peacekeeping mission in the region if it wasn’t resolved on the basis of the Minsk agreements.

“This statement is a provocation and an attempt to disrupt the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Hopes for Ukraine fulfilling its obligations arose after the prisoners’ exchange, which took place on September 7. However, today’s negotiations in Minsk have shown that the Ukrainian delegation continues to operate in its worst traditions. Representatives of Kiev once again refused to sign the Steinmeier’s formula, despite the fact that this was the main condition for the meeting in the “Normandy format”,” the parliamentarian said.

Vladislav Berdichevsky also noted that the aide to President Zelensky took part in agreeing on the signing of the Steinmeier’s formula.

“But the most interesting thing is that the aide to the new president of Ukraine, Andrey Yermak, as one of the advisers to the Normandy Four, agreed on the signing and text of this very formula. His signature and the signatures of other advisers are below the letter sent to Martin Sajdik. As far as I know, it was the signing of the Steinmeier’s formula, approved by all the advisers and sent down into the Minsk Contact Group, together with the disengagement of forces and means in Petrovskoye and Zolotoye localities – that was the condition for the future summit. If there is no signing of the Steinmeier’s formula, there will be no summit.

And now that the meeting in the “Normandy format” is jeopardized, Kiev tunes up about peacekeepers. All actions of Ukraine are still aimed at sabotaging the Minsk agreements,” the MP emphasized.
