West accentuates importance of elections in Donbass: Vladimir Bidyovka on EU sanctions
EU sanctions for organization of elections in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics accentuate the importance of nationwide will, Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Vladimir Bidyovka told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, the EU included nine new names to the sanctions list in connection with the elections in the Donbass. Among them are the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, Vladimir Bidyovka, the Head of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik, representatives of the parliaments of the Republics and the leaders of the DPR and LPR CECs.
According to the DPR parliament speaker, the expansion of the EU sanctions list was not unexpected for the Republics and will not have any negative effect for the Donbass.
“By activating the sanctions mechanism at such a high level, the West once again emphasized the significance of the elections on November 11, 2018, when Donbass residents, with their high turnout, confirmed the course followed by the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics since 2014,” Vladimir Bidyovka said.
He added that the Donbass people “want peace, well-being and prosperity for their native land, but they are ready to fight for their values.”
We recall that, following the elections on November 11, 2018, Denis Pushilin became the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic. In the People’s Council of the II convocation, 74 deputies will be represented by the Donetsk Republic parliamentary faction, 26 mandates are held by the Free Donbass parliamentary faction.
