Working meeting of People’s Council parliamentarians with counterparts in National Assembly of Republic of Abkhazia
On November 24, the People’s Council delegation headed by the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Denis Pushilin took part in a number of special events during their working visit to the Republic of Abkhazia.
The delegation laid flowers at the Memorial of Soldiers’ Glory, who died in the Patriotic War in Abkhazia during 1992-1993 years and then the Chairman of the DPR People’s Republic Denis Pushilin met with the Speaker of the People’s Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia Valery Bganba.
ʺI would like to thank you for the invitation, because it is very important for us at the level of intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary cooperation. Our republics are very similar and now, in the early stages of the establishment of statehood, it is more vital than ever to gain experience of friendly states. Being at war, it is difficult for us, but we need to create for our citizens conditions of normal life now,ʺ Denis Pushilin said.
At the end of the official meeting, Denis Pushilin participated in the briefing of heads of parliaments of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Donetsk People’s Republic.
ʺWe would like to learn more about the current situation in the Donetsk People’s Republic and progress in the Minsk negotiations. Our people went through the war and we know how important the peace for people is,ʺ the Speaker of the People’s Assembly of the Republic Parliament of Abkhazia Valery Bganba said.
Answering journalists’ question about the progress in the Minsk negotiations, Denis Pushilin said that the Ukrainian side, despite the pressure from guarantor states, continued to deliberately sabotage the implementation of its commitments.
ʺThe situation can be characterized as complicated, but we continue to look to the future with optimism, in spite of the fact that the Ukrainian side is constantly dragging out the process in Minsk. Ukraine is doing its utmost in order not to fulfill its obligations, but we understand that it is directly related to the internal situation in Ukraine that remains to be extremely tense to the present day.
There is definitely a pressure put on Ukraine by Europe – France and Germany, countries that were guarantors of the Ukraine’s implementation of the Minsk agreements, but the Ukrainian side continues to drag out the negotiation process with the help of sabotage and provocations,ʺ Denis Pushilin said.
Also, as the part of the working visit of the Donetsk People’s Republic delegation to the Republic of Abkhazia, the working meeting of People’s Council parliamentarians with counterparts in National Assembly of Republic of Abkhazia was held.
The participants of the meeting discussed the current situation in the Donetsk People’s Republic, prospects for economic, scientific and cultural development of the DPR as well as the legislation of the DPR People’s Council and inter-parliamentarian cooperation of the republics.
