Yuri Sivokonenko: One of Donetsk’s People’s Republic’s merits is access of general public to amateur sports

Currently, the government and the Head of the Republic Alexander Zakharchenko pay close attention to the involvement of large number of citizens in sports. This was stated by the DPR People’s Council’s deputy, the Chairman of the People’s Council’s Committee on Youth, Physical Education, Sport and Tourism Yuri Sivokonenko in a programme “Republic’s in touch” on a radio station “Comet”.

ʺA special attention is paid to children’s sport, sports infrastructure is being actively restored. Aggression, which has come to Donbass from the Ukraine’s side, is aimed at destroying people’s hope for future by destroying vital infrastructure, as well as sports buildings and facilities. I recall that one of the first cases of children dying from shelling by the AFU took place in the Kuybyshevsky district at a sporting field.

But our enemies will not be able to destroy our future, because all the sporting fields are literally filled with children, their emotions, excitement, thirst for victory. And this is great!,ʺ Yuri Sivokonenko said.

Also, he told about work in the People’s Council’s Committee on Youth, Physical Education, Sport and Tourism.

ʺThe Committee is actively preparing draft laws on state youth policy and adaptive physical culture. Jointly with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Tourism, we are developing a draft amendment to a law “On physical culture and sport”. Jointly with sports military-patriotic clubs, we are preparing for a remarkable day – 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Donbass. Also, we are preparing to City Day and Miner’s Day in Donetsk.

Sporting life goes on, we hold competitions and send our athletes to international tournaments. Recently, a koshiki-karate team has left to Russia, boxing team has gone to attend the tenth anniversary International boxing tournament dedicated to the memory of the first Chechen President Akhmat Kadyrov. I hope they come back with medals,ʺ Yuri Sivokonenko said.
